Ogwyn Davies was born in Trebanos in the Swansea Valley in 1925. He studied at the Swansea School of Art, before moving to Tregaron where he taught art at the comprehensive school for many years. Many of his paintings were inspired by buildings from Welsh landscapes, and his most notable paintings include Soar y Mynydd (the Welsh chapel) and Dolbadarn Castle. Ogwyn died quite recently in December 2015.
